The water we provide is completely safe to drink. Our source water does not contain any lead and is 100% lead-free.

How Lead Gets into Drinking Water?

Lead does not occur naturally in water. It can enter your drinking water from lead water service lines and/or plumbing in your home. The water service line connects a home to the water main and is comprised of two parts. Dorchester County Water and Sewer (DCWS) owns and maintains the water service lines from the water main to the water meter. Private service lines are located from the water meter to the home and is the property of the homeowner.

Do I Have a Lead Water Service Line?

Over the last three years DCWS has worked diligently to determine what material the service lines are made of. We are proud to say our water system is 100% lead free.
