With three galleries that have new exhibitions every six weeks, special (free) events, classes for all ages, a pottery studio (with two kilns), an artisan and art supply gift shop, summer camps, twelve studio artist spaces, an outreach vehicle (Arty the Artmobile!), birthday party options, event rental space, and SO much more. The Public Works Art Center is THE cultural hub and creative incubator for Downtown Summerville and beyond.
Free admission every day they are open: Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm!
Summerville Artist Guild
Interested in joining a community of talented local artists? The Summerville Artist Guild has been diligently working to promote the arts and arts education for nearly 50 years. Through membership dues and fees, they are able to provide art demonstrations, workshops, field trips, shows, and other exciting events to any artists of any skill level.

Summerville Orchestra
The Summerville Orchestra is an established part of the Summerville community. Formed in 2003, the 501(C)(3) organization seeks to create musical experiences accessible to all and to build community relationships.
The Summerville Orchestra offers many different concert experiences throughout the year such as the Subscription Series at the Summers Corner Performing Arts Center, as well as the free Encore Series at Coastal Coffee Roasters, Music Chats with Wojciech at the Dorchester County Library, the Public Works Art Center strolls, and more!
In September of 2022, the Summerville Orchestra also launched their own Junior and Youth Philharmonic for students located within the local area with support from the South Carolina Arts Commission. For more information on programs, concerts and all things orchestra please visit their website!

The Flowertown Players
Lovers of live theater and local thespians will definitely want to visit Summerville's Community Theatre - Flowertown Players.
Originally established as a single screen movie theater in 1935, the James F. Dean Theater was named after one of the original founders of the Flowertown Players and has been a reliable center for live theater in Summerville since 1988.
Today, the Flowertown Players is a major contributor to the local arts. They maintain a regular series of shows, featuring main stage plays, youth performances, and special events. The Flowertown Players also offer workshops for any local talent interested in the performing arts.
