Hours of Operation are 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday, Excluding Holidays 

Building Services

Building Services is responsible for the issuing of building permits both residential and commercial , new construction and renovations.  Building Services also conduct field inspections throughout the construction process to verify code compliance.

Inspections can be requested by calling (843) 832-0011 or via email at inspectionrequests@DorchesterCountySC.gov. Next day inspections, must be requested before 3:00 PM the business day prior to the date requested.

Planning & Zoning

Planning & Zoning oversees the zoning ordinances, assist in the permitting process, identifies the zoning of property, staffs the planning commission and the board of zoning appeals, and the tree removal permit process.
