Ground Spraying at Summerville Airport Emergency Landing Area
Overview
In our ongoing efforts to maintain the emergency landing area at Summerville Airport, we have engaged Conservation Drone Services to perform ground spraying with Roundup, Custom Polaris, AC Complete, Trycera DLZ and Drift Control. Starting on August 17, 2024, this initiative will utilize advanced drone technology to reach areas inaccessible by traditional ground spray equipment.
Why Drone Spraying?
Drone spraying is a highly effective alternative to conventional ground spraying vehicles. This method ensures comprehensive coverage and precise application of the necessary chemicals. Our landscape contractor or licensed pesticide applicators within Facilities are unable to access this area due to the challenging terrain, making drone spraying the ideal choice.
Methodology
Chemical Used: Roundup, Custom Polaris, AC Complete, Trycera DLZ and Drift Control
Application Method: Drone spraying
Spray Height: Typically, no higher than 10 feet, often much closer to the ground for optimal coverage
Frequency: Recommended once per year to maintain the area effectively
Benefits of Drone Spraying
Precision: Drones can target specific areas accurately, reducing the risk of over-spraying and minimizing environmental impact.
Accessibility: Drones can easily reach areas that are otherwise inaccessible to traditional ground equipment.
Efficiency: The use of drones allows for quicker application, ensuring that the maintenance process is both timely and effective.
By hiring a reputable land management company to conduct this work, we ensure that the emergency landing area at Summerville Airport remains well-maintained and operational. This innovative approach to ground spraying underscores our commitment to utilizing advanced technologies for maintenance solutions.
