At the February 19, 2024 County Council Meeting, Council approved the purchase of property that would house the new Veterans Services Center.

Funding for this project includes:

• $400,000 from County savings
• $500,000 appropriation from the state

This 4,840 square foot space on 2.5 acres is located at 852 US Highway 15 in St. George. Once the renovations are completed, the Dorchester County Veterans Affairs Office, DAV, American Legion, and other veteran services will be housed in the new center. 

As of July 2024, the project team will be meeting later this month to review the intended project scope. After that, the project will move into the design phase.
