Consolidated Dispatch Center

The Consolidated Dispatch Center serves as the County's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) to receive 9-1-1 calls for service. The center provides dispatching services to the County's EMS Department, Fire Rescue, Sheriff's Office, and Police in the Towns of Harleyville, Ridgeville, and St. George. The center works closely with the Town of Summerville 911 Center and Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center, which serve incorporated areas in the Town of Summerville and City of North Charleston.

Coroner

The Coroner’s office directs and implements the investigation of deaths in order to determine if a case is a natural, homicide, accidental, suicide or unexplained death.

Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Department (EMD) is responsible for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery from natural or man-made disasters. The department manages the county Emergency Operations Center during disasters.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

It is the purpose of Dorchester County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to provide exemplary emergency medical services to the citizens, visitors and neighbors of Dorchester County.
