Fire Chief Tres AtkinsonFire Chief, Tres Atkinson, lll

Tres grew up in Bishopville and joined the fire service as a junior volunteer with the Black River Station 17 in Lee County. After attending Anderson College, he began his full-time career with the City of Bishopville and later the City of Sumter Fire Department. In 1999, Tres was appointed Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director for Lee County, SC. In 2006, he was hired as the first Fire Chief of Columbia County, Florida. In 2012, Tres returned to South Carolina as the Fire Coordinator for Dorchester County and in 2013 became the Fire Chief for the newly formed Dorchester County Fire Rescue.

 


Deputy Chief Malcolm BurnsDeputy Fire Chief, Malcolm Burns

Being in a military family, Malcolm has lived in Charleston, SC, Nashville, TN, and Virginia Beach, VA, but has spent the majority of his life in St. George. Malcolm worked for Robert Bosch for 26 years. He joined the St. George Fire Department in 1995 as a volunteer, where he earned the rank of Fire Chief, and served in this capacity until he was hired on full-time in 2012 as the Deputy Chief of the newly formed Dorchester County Fire Rescue. Malcolm’s passion for volunteering carries on by serving with/at MUSC’s Summer Camp for Burned Children, "Camp Can Do”. 

 


Fire Marshal Rickie Jenkins

Fire Marshal, Rickie Jenkins

Rickie grew up in St. George, SC and joined the fire service in 1987 as a volunteer with St. George Fire Department where he was a Captain until the merger that formed Dorchester County Fire Rescue. He currently serves as the County's Fire Marshal where he oversees Inspections, Investigation, Prevention and most recently Community Risk Reduction. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the South Carolina Firefighters Association.

 

 


Battalion Chief Brent Turner

Battalion Chief, Brent Turner

Brent began his career in fire service in Sherman, Illinois as a volunteer Firefighter in 1989. He later moved to the Lowcountry and began service as a full-time Firefighter with the City of Goose Creek Fire Department in 1991. In 2013, Brent began work as the Region Supervisor for the SC Fire Academy. Brent joined Team Dorchester County as a Battalion Chief in 2016. Brent has an Associates Degree in Fire Science, a BA in Human Resources, and is an active member of the SC Firefighters Association Leadership Institute.  

 


Jack KirlinBattalion Chief, Jack Kirlin

Jack Kirlin grew up in Ridgeville, SC and joined the fire service in 1991 with Ridgeville Volunteer Fire Department. He earned the rank of Fire Chief before the merger in 2013 that formed Dorchester County Fire Rescue (DCFR).  He continued with DCFR as a volunteer District Chief until being hired as a full-time Battalion Chief in 2019. He retired after 28 years as a supervisor with Giant Cement Company before being employed by Dorchester County Fire Rescue. He is a graduate of the 2017 South Carolina Firefighters Association’s Leadership Institute.

Battalion Chief, Brian Ducey

Brian Ducey began his fire service as a volunteer with Burtonsville Fire Department in Montgomery County, MD. in 1993. In September of 1995, he started his career with the Waterbury Fire Department in Waterbury, CT. After 21 years, he retired and moved with his family to South Carolina and was hired by Dorchester County in December of 2016 as a company officer. In 2021 he was promoted to Battalion Chief. He is a 2021 graduate of the South Carolina Firefighters Association’s Leadership Institute.

Battalion Chief, John Brudzinski 

John’s fire service career began in 1991 in Dalton, PA as a volunteer firefighter.  John moved to Harrisburg, PA to become a live-in at Progress Fire where he attended Harrisburg Area Community College to complete firefighter and paramedic certification.  In 1997, John was hired as a career firefighter in Johnstown, PA and retired after a 20-year career. He and his family then moved to South Carolina and was hired in 2019 by the Dorchester County Fire Marshal Division.  John holds a B.S. in Fire Service Management, is a search team manager for SCTF-1 Urban Search and Rescue and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
