Whether you're looking to catch tonight's dinner or enjoy some peace and quiet casting out, Dorchester County has plenty of opportunities for fishing enthusiasts. Below are just a few locations where you can cast out and catch some local sea life.

Edisto River
The Edisto River is one of the longest free-flowing blackwater rivers in North America, making it an ideal location for any local fisherman to spend their day. 87 different freshwater species and 120 different saltwater species have been identified living in its waters, meaning you never know what you'll reel in when you cast out.
There are two ways you can fish on the Edisto. You can either launch your boat at one of their access points here, or schedule a time with one of their outfitters here.

If you choose to take a motorboat out for the day, Herbert H. Jessen Boat Landing is where you’ll want to access the river. You’ll find the river channel becomes wider here, making it an ideal spot for an average size boat to start their journey. In addition to the boat ramp, the landing also offers a kayak launch, a fishing pier, a walking trail, and a boardwalk overlooking the Ashley River. It’s a great spot to pull off and enjoy a lunch or snack break in the sheltered picnic table area.

Ashley River Park is located near the beautiful scenic side of the Ashley River off of Bacon's Bridge Road. The site features many amenities and recreation activities for visitors of all ages, including opportunities for fishing. At the end of the nature trail, you can find a pier overlooking the Ashley River that's a perfect location for casting out. There is also a fishing pond next to the Ashley River Pavilion. This stocked pond is catch-and-release fishing only, so it's a perfect spot to enjoy some recreational fishing and teach your youngsters the basics.
