Home MenuHealth and Social Services Building
Dorchester County is currently renovating a 47,000 square-foot building at the intersection of Hwy. 17A and Orangeburg Road. The project budget is $11.2M which is primarily funded by American Rescue Plan Act funds (ARPA) of which 2.9M was used to purchase the facility. Ultimately, this project will centralize the operations of several outside agencies in a more energy-efficient and standardized facility in alignment with the County’s Strategic Plan.
The building, which is the old BI-LO supermarket, will house the Department of Public Health (DPH), the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Public Defender's Office.
At this time, the Public Defender's Office are occupying their designated area and DSS, HHS, and DPH will be relocating their offices in November 2025.
