Lack of water and wastewater infrastructure has hindered job growth and the creation of affordable housing in the Greater St.George area. The propsed Greater St. George Wastewater Project will provide solutions to these challengs and enhance the quality of life for area residents through the provision of wastewater infrastructure coupled with water from the Lake Marion Regional Water Agency.

The conception of this project follows the Dorchester County 2019 Strategic Plan for Strategic Issue 1. Infrastructure. 

The project will consist of the following components:

  • New Pump Station located at the existing Harleyville Wastewater Treatment Plant which will reverse the flow back to the existing Pump Station 20 at Woodlands High School.
  • New Pump Station located at the intersection of I-26 and U.S. 15 with a force main running south along U.S. 15 to the intersection of U.S. 15 and U.S. 178 at Rosinville
  • New Pump Station constructed near the intersection of Duncan Chapel Road and Shady Grove Road with a force main running south down Shady Grove Road to U.S. 178. This force main will turn east and connect into Pump Station 22 at Pilot Travel Center.
  • Construct new force main from Pump Station 20 located Woodlands High School to Pump Station 121 at Winding Woods Commerce Park. The new force main will run parallel to U.S. 78.
