Apprenticeships offer a career pathway for high school students, providing employer-based learning for 16-18-year-olds to acquire essential skills, enabling a more skilled labor force in the region.

This two-year commitment allows part-time work during the school year and the summer through a partnership with Trident Technical College

The Apprenticeship Program is a two year commitment at an hourly rate of $10.00. Students can work a maximum of 15 hours during the school year and up to 20 hours during the summer.

Dorchester County is currently filling the following apprenticeship opportunities: 

Computer Support Specialist: provides technical assistance and troubleshooting support to employees, aiding in the resolution of hardware and software issues within Dorchester County Government.

Business Services Bookkeeper: maintains financial records, organizes transactions, and suppports basic accounting tasks under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Emergency Medical Services: articipates in emergency medical services, gaining hands-on experience in pre-hospital care, patient assessment, and ambulance operations while working alongside experienced emergency medical professionals.
