Ms. Rebecca Vance will join the Dorchester County Team as the Deputy Administrator of Community Services on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
Ms. Vance currently serves as the City Manager for the City of Cayce, South Carolina. Prior to accepting the position with the City of Cayce in 2011, Ms. Vance served as the City Administrator of Manning, South Carolina, and the Town Administrator of Summerton, South Carolina. Early in her career, she served as a Planner II for the Berkeley Charleston Dorchester Council of Governments and a Planner II for the Sumter City-County Planning Commission.
Ms. Vance grew up in Dorchester County and graduated from Fort Dorchester High School. She has a Masters of Public Administration Degree from the University of Charleston/ University of South Carolina (Joint Program) and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Geography with a Minor in Environmental Science from the University of South Carolina. Additionally, she is a Certified Member of the American Planning Association’s American Institute of Certified Planners. She is a member of the International City and County Management Association, where she is a Credentialed Manager and a member of the S.C. City and County Management Association, where she serves on the Board of Directors.
In her new role, Ms. Vance will serve as the liaison to the Dorchester County Sheriff and Coroner and will provide coordinated leadership of the Community Services Departments, which include:
- Emergency Medical Services
- Emergency Management Department
- Dorchester County Fire Rescue
- Fleet Services
- Planning and Zoning
- Building Services
- Parks and Recreation
- Community Services (Animal Control, Environment Services & Mosquito Control)
