Public Workshops Announced for Comprehensive Plan Review

The Dorchester County Planning and Zoning Department invites residents to a series of public workshops to gather community input for the five-year review of the County's Comprehensive Plan. These workshops will provide an opportunity for residents, stakeholders, and interested parties to contribute their valuable insights and help shape the future of our community.

The workshops will be held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Pavilion at Davis Bailey Park (5190 E Jim Bilton Blvd., St. George, SC)
  • Thursday, June 29th, 2023, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Ashley River Park Office Screened Porch (200 Renken Road, Summerville)

These drop-in style sessions will provide an informal and welcoming atmosphere where participants can freely engage with County representatives and fellow community members. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Comprehensive Plan and share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas for the future development of our County.

The County's Comprehensive Plan serves as a vital roadmap, guiding land use decisions, infrastructure development, transportation planning, and economic growth. As we undertake the important task of reviewing and updating the plan, public input is crucial to ensure that it aligns with the community's aspirations and values.

County Planning and Zoning Department staff will be present at the workshops to provide information, answer questions, and listen to feedback from participants. We encourage all interested individuals to attend one of the workshops and contribute their unique perspectives to this essential process.

For those unable to attend the workshops in person, we encourage you to fill out the Dorchester County Comprehensive Plan Survey. The survey will be available until June 30, and we strongly encourage all residents to participate during this timeframe.
