On Saturday, June 1, 2019, the Dorchester County Emergency Management Department will host the 7th Annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo in the parking lot of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store located at 9600 Dorchester Road, in the City of North Charleston.

The pet-friendly, rain or shine, expo will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Families are welcome to attend this free event which will feature emergency equipment tours, face painting, free food provided by Lowe’s Home Improvement, hurricane themed activities, and give-a-ways.

The expo will promote hurricane readiness, safety, and all-hazards preparedness. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the many services and resources available before, during, and after a hurricane.

In preparation for hurricane season, it is important residents begin preparing now, before storms threaten the area. At the very least, families should know their hurricane evacuation zone, restock their disaster supply kit, and have a plan for evacuation that includes their pets.
